Sunburst The Sunburst Awards are looking for donations for their silent auction table that will be at World Fantasy 2008

The Sunburst Award for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic is a juried award based on excellence of writing in two categories:  adult and young adult.

The awards are presented annually to Canadian writers with a speculative fiction novel or book-length collection of speculative fiction published any time during the previous calendar year. Named after the first novel by Phyllis Gotlieb, one of the first published authors of contemporary Canadian science fiction, the awards consist of a cash award of Cdn$1,000 and a medallion which incorporates a specially designed "Sunburst" logo. News and Notes, sept 07 Our banquet has been finalized. The choices are:

Chicken Brochette
Cracked Pepper Coated Escalope of Salmon w/mango citrus salsa.

The default meal will be the chicken, so let us know if you want that changed. Kosher, Halal or vegetarian meals are available by special request.
Banquet tickets MUST be purchased by October 5th. There will be no at door banquet sales.

We’ve had a few questions about sending us books for the totebags. Just a brief reminder that, if shipping from the US, don’t ship by UPS if you can at all help it. UPS likes to add little extra charges for crossing the border. You can send us stuff any time as we have the storage space, however, we would like to have received everything no later than October 15th, if possible. Our mailing address can be found on our website under “contact us”

Denim shirt orders are now closed, thanks to the many people who placed an order.

Finally, as per usual, we want everybody to check their name on the registration section of our website to make sure we have spellings and information correct (and to make sure you’re there if you think you have purchased a membership)

Workshop Our Guest Author, David Morrell, will be conducting a workshop on Wednesday, October 29th, the topic of which will be “Lessons From a Lifetime of Writing” This workshop is done in conjunction with the Calgary Regional Consortium. Registration is open to all who wish to attend, however availability is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. Cost for this all-day workshop is $85 CDN. Banquet selection If you have purchased a banquet ticket without specifying an entree choice, you will receive a ticket for chicken. To change you entree, please email us at [info@worldfantasy2008.org] and specify pork or salmon. Kosher, Halal and vegetarian entree are available by special request.
If you have not yet purchased your banquet ticket and wish an entree other than chicken, please use our online registration form and specify your selection.

Note: banquet tickets must be purchased no later than October 3rd.

Augest News and notes We’ve decided to slap labels on some of our committee members and send them out amongst the public. As such, if you see any of them at World Con feel free to approach them, ask any questions you may have, or simply say “hello”. I promise, they won’t bite… hard.

Also, we’re still pimping our shirts. For those attending the convention – we are selling denim shirts with our logo stitched on them. The shirts are long sleeve, based on a North American men’s size (XS - 4XL), and come in either black or blue. Click "here" to see an image of a shirt. The deadline for orders is September 1, 2008. Pre-ordered shirts will available at registration for pick-up. All shirts must be pre-ordered. There will be no extra shirts available at the convention. The price per shirt is $45 US. Payment must received prior to the September 1, 2008 deadline and can be sent by mail (check or credit card information) or via our on-line Paypal.*

Please include with your order: qty, sizes, colors, and payment. Once we receive an order we will email you to confirm the particulars.

*A new Paypal line is available on our website through the registration form. If you are already a registered member, you only need to fill in your name and email address with a comment at the bottom telling us qty, sizes, and colors.
